ZKS KARATE: SAFEGUARDING POLICY & CODE OF CONDUCT AGREEMENT FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS
ZKS Karate is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all members, especially children and vulnerable individuals. As a parent/guardian of a participating student, you play an essential role in supporting our safeguarding practices and upholding our values.
By enrolling your child in ZKS Karate, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
Our Commitment to Safeguarding
ZKS Karate will:

Conduct and regularly review comprehensive Risk Assessments for all activities and venues.

Ensure all instructors and staff working with children or vulnerable adults are vetted through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Require all instructors to complete Safeguarding and Child Protection training on a regular basis.

Have at least one qualified First Aider present at every class, session, or event.

Maintain accessible emergency procedures and first aid kits at all venues.

Adhere to all relevant safeguarding legislation, including:

Children Act 1989 & 2004

Working Together to Safeguard Children statutory guidance

Applicable local authority protocols

Parents/Guardians should ensure that their child understands and agrees to:

Treat all others with respect, fairness, and dignity, regardless of ability, gender, age, or background.

Maintain self-control, courtesy, and sportsmanship during all activities.

Contribute to a safe and harassment-free training environment.
-
Seek medical advice before training if there is an injury or medical concern.

Remove jewellery and watches before training.
-
Wear proper karate attire (gi) and appropriate protective equipment.

Follow the instructions of instructors and coaches at all times.
Parent/Spectator Code of Conduct
As a parent/guardian, you agree to:

Treat students, instructors, officials, and spectators with respect and courtesy at all times.

Encourage your child to participate fairly and positively in line with the rules of karate.

Support the development and wellbeing of all children, not just your own.
-
Ensure that any photos or videos taken are for private use only.

Do not share images of children publicly (e.g. on social media) without prior parental consent.

Avoid any disruptive or distressing behaviour during classes or events.
Safeguarding Concerns and Contact
ZKS Karate has a designated Welfare Officer responsible for handling all safeguarding concerns or complaints. Any concern raised will be dealt with sensitively, confidentially, and in line with national and local safeguarding procedures.
